Vanessa McClintock is a freelance photographer working in Northern California. She does not go on assignments for National Geographic, but is open to the idea. ;-) Instead, she travels, photographs, documents, and comments on her own “neighborhoods,” sharing his experiences with a new and growing community of friends on the Internet. In a former life, Nessa was a conductor and composer in the “classical” music world. She was also a classical music critique and writer for the old Sacramento Union. She continues to compose shorter pieces and does some arrangement/orchestrations, some of which you will likely hear in the background to some of his slide shows.
When home from her journeys, Nessa also photographs events, weddings, businesses, organizations, does portraiture, and custom work.
If you have a special event or a story that might make for an interesting photo-documentary and you think our neighbors will find interesting, contact me via the Contact page.
Tools of the trade include Nikon digital for color and professional event work. 35mm film (almost exclusively for black & white) cameras, Crown Graphic and Sinar large format cameras, Mamiya TLR medium format, Apple iPhone 6S Plus (which I greatly respect), and the Adobe line of graphic software. A special note here: nearly all of the photos you’ll see here are not manipulated to appear something other than what you’ll see. Other than basic contrasting, dodge/burn concepts, etc., the images are pretty much what were originally exposed. WYSIWIS (What You See Is What I Shot).
